Interaction between frequency and amplitude and their effects on kinematics and efficiency in monofin swimming at varying frequencies

(Wechselwirkung zwischen Frequenz und Amplitude und deren Auswirkungen auf Kinematik und Effizienz beim Monofin-Schwimmen bei unterschiedlichen Frequenzen)

Background: Undulatory underwater swimming is one of the fastest forms of human aquatic locomotion and is used by swimmers after start and after turns. Thereby, swimmers imitate a fish-like motion with the goal of maximum speed. Human monofin swimmers can act as a natural intermediate step between the aquatic locomotion of fish and humans (without fins). Swimming speed is mainly determined by the combination of the kick amplitude and kick frequency. While fish modulate swimming speed mainly through changes in oscillation frequency at constant amplitude, it is still unclear whether the same principle applies to human monofin swimming.
