Study on measurement of propulsive force under feathering motion of the monofin

Finswimming competitions, in which swimmers compete wearing a mono-fin, are being held in many countries. The most exciting aspect of finswimming is its speed. We produced an experimental monofin which generate the maximum propulsive force most effectively. This study was noticed at the angle which wore monofin in an ankle especially. Propulsive force was measured using manufactured equipment. The effect of this wearing angle on the propulsive force was carried out. Simultaneously, the configuration of monofin which the most efficiently generated the propulsive force was studied. The percipient feeling evaluation of the swimmer was evaluated for six kinds of shapes. As the result obtained in this study, the most propulsive force is generated under up-kick motion in wearing the monofin to the position at á = -15°.
