Effect of swimming power, swimming power endurance and dryland power on 100 m freestyle performance
(Auswirkung der Schwimmleistungsfähigkeit, der Schwimmausdauerleistungsfähigkeit und der Leistungsfähigkeit an Land auf die 100-m-Freistilleistung)
In previous studies, it was suggested that swimming power and dryland power were important to sprint freestyle performance1). We developed a new system of evaluating swimming power called equipment of estimating swimming power; hereafter referred to as EESP. The purpose of this study is to show the effect of maximum swimming power, swimming power endurance and arm stroke power on dryland to a 100 m freestyle performance.
The results suggested that the maximum swimming power was the most important factor for estimating a 100 m freestyle performance, and that the velocity reduction rate during 100 m performance was the second most important factor in this study. This shows that it is necessary for swimmers to obtain the highest maximum swimming power and to develop the speed endurance ability for improving the 100 m freestyle performance.
